On October 28, the Entry/Exit System (EES), which involves the collection of biometric data of third-country nationals, was launched at all checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.

This was reported by the State Border Guard Service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“The EES is being implemented to speed up border control, improve security and accurately record the length of stay of foreigners in the EU,” the statement said.

According to the Hungarian side, the system was previously launched at the Beregsurany-Luzhanka checkpoints (from October 12) and Záhony-Chop (from October 21).

“We would like to draw the attention of citizens to the fact that the operation of the EES does not affect the general procedure for crossing the border,” the SBGS emphasized.

As a reminder, on October 12, the EES system was launched in the EU and Schengen countries for all tourists who are not citizens of these countries. The new rules for entering Europe also apply to Ukrainians. From now on, passports will not be stamped at the border and airports. Instead, border guards will collect personal information.

The Entry\Exit System (abbreviated to EES) is being introduced to control the flow of people entering the EU and Schengen countries. It replaces the usual stamps with a new digital system containing biometric data of travelers.
