Potato prices have fallen on the Ukrainian market
15 November 18:12
This week, prices for potatoes began to decline in Ukraine, according to analysts of the EastFruit project, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
It should be noted that last week, producers still managed to keep selling prices, but at the beginning of this week it became obvious that at this price level, it would be extremely difficult to sell volumes that are not subject to storage before the onset of frost. Therefore, potato producers began to simultaneously reduce their selling prices in the middle of the week, trying to revive wholesalers’ interest in their product.
Thus, now farmers in the main production regions are ready to ship quality potatoes at 7-13 UAH/kg ($0.17-0.31/kg), which is on average 14% cheaper than at the end of last week.
At the same time, the owners of quality potatoes currently prefer not to rush to sell their existing volumes of products, waiting for the price situation on the market to improve. It is worth adding that under the current conditions, potato prices on the Ukrainian market are currently 58% lower on average than in the same period last year.
