More than $10 billion is needed to restore Kharkiv, which was damaged by Russian troops. Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov said this in an interview with liga.net, Komersant ukrainskyi
reports
According to the mayor, Kharkiv has several priorities in the budget, and one of them is reconstruction.
“To rebuild everything the aggressor has done, we need more than $10 billion dollars. Each arrival means broken windows, smashed roofs, and damaged apartments. But the most important thing is the dead and wounded,”
– said Igor Terekhov.
According to the mayor, there are districts in Kharkiv where there are almost no surviving multi-storey buildings. Russia is deliberately attacking civilian objects and killing citizens.
Terekhov stressed that no city budget in the world can withstand the burden of $10 billion, so the city is engaging international partners.
“Russia is lying when it says it only hits military targets. With each arrival, we have more and more evidence that this is a real genocide,”
– stressed the mayor.
Regarding the destruction caused by Russia in the last decade of March, Terekhov said that the enemy destroyed all transformer substations and damaged the thermal power plant. There was a blackout in Kharkiv.
“It is impossible to restore these facilities quickly. They are working, but not fully restored. Together with the power engineers, we managed to perform a miracle. The next evening, the power went back on in residential buildings. Unfortunately, there is not enough voltage. We had to finish the heating season ahead of schedule to save money,”
– he added.
