Son of Chief Rabbi of Ukraine killed in war (photo)

The son of the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine and Kyiv Moshe Reuven Asman, Matityahu (Anton) Sambirsky, was killed at the front of the Russian-Ukrainian war. This was reported by the father of the deceased on his Facebook page.

In May of this year, Sambirsky gave birth to a daughter. A week after her birth, Matityahu was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and later the family was informed that he went missing in action in late July.

Today, on 11 September, Rabbi Asman wrote that on 12 September, a farewell will be held in the Central Synagogue of Kyiv, followed by a funeral at the Jewish cemetery.

As it became known [Kommersant], the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine adopted an orphan boy when he was 11 years old.
