Zakarpattia region detains group of tax evaders who paid $48,000 for a “tour”
6 May 2024 12:35In the Zakarpattia region, border guards of the Mukachevo Detachment detained six men who planned to bypass checkpoints to get to Romania. The travellers paid more than $48,000 for the “tour”. This was reported by the State Border Guard Service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“Implementing the available information, officers of the operational and search department together with a patrol from the Yablunivka border guard department detained 6 men in the mountains, 600 metres from the border,”
– the border guards said.
Two of the detainees are residents of Lviv region, two more are residents of Vinnytsia region, one is a resident of Cherkasy region and one is a resident of Kharkiv region. Each of the men paid a considerable amount of money to the smugglers for crossing the border, enriching them by a total of $48,500.
Reports on administrative offences under Art. 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offences “Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine” were drawn up against the detainees, and the cases were sent to court.
In addition, the detachment’s operatives have already identified the circle of persons involved in organising the illegal border crossing of the said group of men.
