The terrorist attack in Moscow’s Crocus City was a return to the previous period of Putin’s rule, which lasted a quarter of a century, when suicide bombers killed hundreds of people. Western analysts fear that it will become a pretext for Russia to intensify its attacks on Ukraine. This was written by Bloomberg, Komersant ukrainskyi https://www.komersant.info/ reports

The publication believes that the attack destroyed the illusion of security in Moscow, which Putin has been trying to cultivate for more than two years after the invasion of Ukraine.

“The obvious way for the Kremlin to spin this is that it’s connected to the war in Ukraine. The immediate response could be more drone and ballistic missile attacks,”

– said Charles Lichfield, deputy director of the Atlantic Council’s Centre for Geoeconomics in Washington.

However, the analyst himself admitted that the level of these attacks had increased even before the terrorist attack in Moscow.

On the evening of 22 March, several men in camouflage opened fire in Moscow’s Crocus City shopping mall, killing 137 people and injuring 182 others, according to the latest figures. One of the Islamic State groups claimed responsibility for the attack, but the official Russian response has not been based on this claim. Russian security services have detained several suspects, including four Tajiks, who are accused of carrying out the terrorist act. At the same time, Russian propagandists accuse the United States or Ukraine of organising the attack. The White House has stated that Ukraine was not involved in the shooting.

Russia launched themost massive attack on Ukraine with missiles and shaheds during the entire full-scale war less than 24 hours before the terrorist attack.
