Electricity supply fully restored in Zaporizhzhia region
8 January 09:40
By the morning of January 8, energy companies had managed to fully restore power to residents of the Zaporizhzhia region, but citizens are being urged not to use powerful household appliances due to the electricity shortage.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Telegram “Zaporizhzhyaoblenergo.”
“Zaporizhzhyaoblenergo specialists have restored power to residents of the controlled part of the Zaporizhzhya region,” said Andriy Stasevsky, head of the company.
According to him, yesterday, January 7, at around 10 p.m., the Zaporizhzhia region was completely cut off from power as a result of a massive enemy drone attack on the energy infrastructure.
Restoration work continued throughout the night. First and foremost, critical infrastructure facilities were restored, in particular, heat and water supply.
“Thanks to pre-developed action algorithms, as of 5:00 a.m. — less than 7 hours later — the work was completed, and the power supply to residents of the Zaporizhzhia region and the regional center was restored,” Stasevsky added.
At the same time, energy experts note that after the night shelling, the situation in the energy system in the Zaporizhzhia region remains difficult. Therefore, in order to avoid repeated mass power outages, residents are urged to urgently limit the use of powerful electrical appliances.
According to Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba, heat and water continue to be supplied to homes in Zaporizhzhia. Boiler rooms are supplied with electricity and are operating normally, and trains are running as usual.
On January 7 and during the night of January 8, the Russian army carried out missile strikes and attacks with strike drones on energy infrastructure facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
As a result of the evening shelling on January 7, power supplies were cut off in both regions. Residents were urged to stock up on water in advance, and “points of invincibility” began to be deployed to support the population and meet basic needs.
