On Saturday, July 12, late in the evening, gunfire was heard at Zaporizhzhia NPP for about an hour, and on Sunday morning, small arms casings were found near reactors 5 and 6.
According to "Komersant Ukrainian", this was reported on the website of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
“The IAEA team at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) in Ukraine reported hearing hundreds of small arms shots last night,” the report says.
According to IAEA experts, a large number of shots were heard at the plant for about one hour, starting at 22:00 local time.
“During the walkover this morning, they saw numerous small-caliber shell casings scattered on the ground near reactors 5 and 6. There were no signs of broken windows or other physical damage,” the agency said.
Currently, the IAEA team present at ZNPP is trying to obtain additional information about the incident.
“Such military activity on the territory or near a major nuclear power plant is clearly unacceptable,” said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
