NABU is looking for a specialist to manage TikTok and create Reels

6 February 12:39

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau has announced a competition for the position of chief specialist in the production sector of the media relations department. As stated in the announcement, the purpose of the position is to create dynamic content for Reels, TikTok, and Shorts, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

“If you know how to shoot trendy Reels on a smartphone and edit them coolly; understand the aesthetics of stories and know how to explain the main thing with the help of one infographic — we are waiting for you!” says the announcement on the bureau’s website.

The bureau offers creators of such content a salary of around 41,000 hryvnia. The final salary will depend on seniority, bonuses, and allowances.

In addition to a content creator, NABU is also looking for a videographer to join its production team. They are also offering a salary of around UAH 41,000 for professional video shooting and editing.

In total, according to NABU’s staffing table, 27 employees are responsible for communications for the institution . Their official salaries, excluding bonuses and allowances, amount to almost UAH 1.3 million per month.

Previously, they were looking for a PR specialist for €30,000

In September last year, the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI) announced a competition for a senior communications advisor for the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP). For a six-month contract, they were ready to pay the expert up to €30,000 (up to €5,000 per month).

According to the announcement, the advisor was expected to provide not only advice on crisis communications, but also assistance in developing communication strategies, organizing press conferences, and preparing information campaigns for Ukrainian and international audiences.

Not everyone understands the need for PR

Some experts and politicians are quite critical of NABU for its PR efforts. They say that investigative measures are often accompanied by excessive media coverage, films, and numerous interviews at various stages—before the investigation is completed or court verdicts are handed down.

Kirill Sazonov:

“As a film studio or production agency, NABU is a normal company. Entertaining. But as a state body that not only exposes corruption but also fights it, it is very expensive. Because it is completely ineffective.”

Yulia Tymoshenko:

“It is very unfortunate that NABU has turned into a cheap PR agency. There are still no verdicts, no charges, nothing, but NABU has already released (published – ed.) all the case materials, released all the confidential materials that we were basically prohibited from distributing. It’s just strange. I’m not even talking about the presumption of innocence.”

Danylo Getmantsev:

“…we should thank NABU for what they are doing and for becoming much more systematic than they used to be, but on the other hand, I would like to see verdicts, not just a show.”

Campaigns against NABU

Texty.org.ua analyzed 246 posts from 24 popular Telegram channels between June 5 and July 23, 2025, and believes that there was an information campaign against anti-corruption agencies and activists.

Also, in September last year, the head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, Semen Kryvonos , stated that a campaign to discredit the agency was underway. According to him, anonymous Telegram channels were spreading materials aimed at undermining trust in NABU. As an example, he cited a traffic accident in Ivano-Frankivsk region, in which one of the bureau’s detectives was injured.

As previously reported [Komersant], the Luhansk Regional State Administration planned to spend more than UAH 3.2 million on its PR in online media.
