Gas supply company Naftogaz of Ukraine has announced that its annual gas tariff for residential customers will remain at UAH 7.96 per cubic metre (including VAT) from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2025. This is stated on the group’s website, Komersant ukrainskyi
reports.
“Naftogaz of Ukraine has extended the Fixed tariff plan for another year, guided by the current moratorium on price increases. The tariff period is from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2025 inclusive.
Naftogaz of Ukraine supplies gas to 12.4 million households.
“We guarantee all of them the availability of resources and a fixed price for the year ahead,”
– said Oleksiy Chernyshov, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz.
Annual gas tariffs for households in Ukraine have been in effect since 2021.
For the first time, Ukraine has covered the 2023-2024 heating season exclusively with domestically produced gas. Out of 15.2 bcm of gas accumulated in underground storage facilities at the beginning of the season, Ukraine used 6.7 bcm and has already started the season of gas injection into the storage facilities. According to Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, the state also plans to cover all of the country’s consumption with domestically produced gas throughout 2024.
In January-February 2024, Naftogaz Group paid UAH 11.4 billion in taxes to the state and local budgets.
Earlier, Naftogaz reported that in 2023 it bought almost a billion cubic metres of gas from private Ukrainian gas producers. This trend was assessed as extremely positive by the NJSC.
At the same time, market experts believe that this situation actually demonstrates the absence of a gas market in Ukraine and its significant distortion.
