Naftogaz of Ukraine has refused to answer questions about a possible increase in gas prices for households and businesses. In response to a request from Kommersant Ukrainsky , the company said that it does not directly supply natural gas to consumers and businesses, so there will be no response to the request.

“The supply of natural gas to consumers and the sale of natural gas to commercial enterprises in the Naftogaz Group is carried out by the Gas Supply Company Naftogaz of Ukraine Limited Liability Company and the Gas Supply Company Naftogaz Trading Limited Liability Company,”

– said Naftogaz and stressed that these two companies may have information about a possible increase in gas prices.

This is despite the fact that it is Naftogaz that supplies these companies with natural gas.

“The company (NJSC Naftogaz – ed.) is obliged to provide Gas Supply Company Naftogaz of Ukraine LLC and Gas Supply Company Naftogaz Trading LLC, including as a supplier of last resort, with the natural gas resources necessary to ensure the fulfilment of special duties,” the company said,

– the company said.

Despite the fact that the government has approved a resolution according to which the price of gas for heat and hot water suppliers to households will remain unchanged until the end of summer, it is not known for certain whether households and businesses will face an increase in the price of natural gas in the autumn and winter.

Earlier, the company said that the annual gas tariff for residential customers from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2025 inclusive would remain at UAH 7.96 per cubic metre (including VAT). Industrial consumers will have to pay more: their tariff will be UAH 14.58 per cubic metre.

Despite these statements by Naftogaz, a number of experts believe that the price of gas for households may increase by UAH 1-1.5.
