We need to eradicate the Soviet education system – Milovanov

The Soviet model of educating obedient performers who are used to “stealing a little and not rebelling” is shaping an irresponsible society. Ukrainian universities should teach students to create rules and take responsibility for them on their own, says Tymofiy Mylovanov, president of the Kyiv School of Economics. He said this on the air of the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian".
Milovanov emotionally described the logic of Soviet educational culture:
“When you look into your eyes, he does everything. If you turn away, he has stolen something. That’s how we train people,” he said.
He emphasized that this model was convenient for the Soviet system.
“The Soviet system was satisfied with this: you can steal a little, you can’t rebel too much. And we need them not to steal, but to go to revolution when necessary. We need people to decide for themselves whether to rebel or not. And create the rules themselves,” Milovanov said.
According to the KSE president, Ukrainian universities should abandon the hierarchical culture of fear.
“There is no need to build a hierarchy. If a manager is an asshole, then a person should rebel, not accept these rules and say, ‘well, that’s life,'” he summarized.
