MP Honcharenko: NABU has prepared a suspicion against Umerov
23 November 14:12
The NABU has prepared a suspicion against National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov.
This was stated by MP from the European Solidarity party Oleksiy Honcharenko, [Komersant] reports.
According to Honcharenko, he is accused of embezzling public funds.
“In addition, part of the ‘mutual fund’, which was transferred to the Persian Gulf countries, is registered to Umerov,” he added.
He did not specify which Gulf country he was talking about.
“This is exactly why Umerov was included in the delegation for negotiations (on Trump’s peace plan), to make the story about suspicion – pressure, not corruption,” Goncharenko added.
“I will not name the “nickname” Umerov on the tapes. You can guess it yourself. But I will say this: A year ago, I kept saying that Umerov should be fired. Everyone told me that there is no more decent person than him, that he is a great professional and an incredible specialist. I understand that he is a specialist in stealing the budget?” – honcharenko said in another post.
The scandal at Energoatom
As you know, businessman Timur Mindich is one of the defendants in a high-profile corruption scandal at Energoatom. On November 10, the NABU and the SAPO published the so-called Mindich tapes, which show that a kickback scheme was operating at Energoatom, with contractors being demanded to pay 10-15% of the transaction amount.
The scandal also implicated former Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko and former Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk, who have both resigned. Mnidic is also suspected of putting pressure on the current Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, who previously served as Minister of Defense.
