MP Zadorozhnyi, who is suspected of bribery, urged parents to buy cheap nappies for their children to save money

Yesterday, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau together with the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office served MP Mykola Zadorozhnyi of the Servant of the People party with a notice of suspicion of extortion of undue advantage for “not obstructing the repair of infrastructure in Sumy region”. It was a kickback of UAH 3.4 million for assistance with a tender.
Later, Zadorozhnyi was expelled from the Servant of the People party and from the TSC on the construction of fortifications and the purchase of drones, where he was the chairman. According to MP Oleksiy Honcharenko on his Telegram channel, this MP had previously urged parents to save money and buy cheap nappies for their children.
“I recommend to everyone as a parent to buy Ukrainian nappies, which are much cheaper,” the MP said.
In response to this statement, Oleksiy Honcharenko called on MPs, including those from the Servant of the People party, where Zadorozhnyi used to be, to buy cheaper cars.
“There was a great piece of advice – buy cheaper nappies (…) So maybe you will buy cheaper Mercedes? Or Lexuses, or Porsches,” Oleksiy Honcharenko replied to Mykola Zadorozhny.
By the way, Zadorozhnyi himself, according to his published declaration for 2023, does not own Lexus or Porsche, but a year before the full-scale invasion, he bought a LAND CRUISER PRADO for almost UAH 2 million.
In June this year, the MP also leased a vehicle for UAH 240,000.
Already during the full-scale invasion, in 2023, his wife purchased two plots of land in Kyiv region, each measuring 2,500 and 3,133 square metres. Despite these purchases, Zadorozhnyi’s wife also received social benefits from the state in 2023.
The MP himself has not commented on the suspicion that he was served with a bribe and “walks around the Rada, smiles, enjoys this life,” Oleksiy Honcharenko wrote on his Telegram channel and published a “fresh” photo of Zadorozhnyi taken during the plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada.
Who is Mykola Zadorozhnyi?
MP Mykola Zadorozhnyi is a physics and computer science teacher by education. In 2019, he was elected as an MP in the 162nd constituency. He is a member of the Budget Committee. Prior to becoming an MP, Zadorozhnyi worked at the GB Event by Kvartal 95 event agency, was a member of the Gagarin Brothers comedy group, and worked as a showman, event organiser and presenter.
