MPs dismiss Head of the State Property Fund Koval at second attempt

At a meeting on 5 September, members of the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Vitaliy Koval as head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine at the second attempt. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak on Telegram.

Koval’s resignation was put to a vote in parliament yesterday, 4 September , but there were not enough votes to dismiss him – the decision was supported by 225 MPs.

Today, an air raid alert was launched during the consideration of Koval’s dismissal from the position of the head of the State Property Fund. The meeting of the Rada continued after the alarm ended.

Koval’s dismissal was supported by 261 MPs.

Last night , the Servant of the People faction, together with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, held a meeting to discuss personnel updates in the government.

Afterwards, the head of the faction, David Arakhamia, said that Vitaliy Koval would head the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

On the evening of 4 September, the Verkhovna Rada received proposals to appoint new candidates to the Cabinet of Ministers at the suggestion of the Servant of the People faction:

  • Olha Stefanishyna as Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine and Minister of Justice of Ukraine.
  • Mykola Tochytskyi as Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine,
  • Oleksiy Kuleba as Vice Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine;
  • Vitaliy Koval as Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine;
  • Matviy Bidnyi as Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine;
  • Svitlana Hrynchuk as Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine;
  • Natalia Kalmykova as Minister of Veterans’ Affairs of Ukraine;
  • Herman Smetanin as Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine;
  • Mykola Tochytskyi as Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine.

It is worth noting that at a meeting on 4 September, members of the Verkhovna Rada applauded the resignation of Justice Minister Denys Malyuska.

According to the source of Kommersant UkrayinskyKomersant.Info, the dismissed Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna may head the Ministry of Justice instead of Denys Malyuska.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn.

The head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction , David Arakhamia, announced a major Cabinet reset this week.
