The operation in the Kursk region of Russia shows that the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin has no control over anything. This opinion was expressed by the head of the Bundestag’s defence committee, Markus Faber, on the X network, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“The Ukrainian offensive against the occupation forces near Kursk is going better than expected. This forces the aggressor to withdraw a significant number of troops from the front in the east. This eases tensions there,” Faber wrote.
He noted that this situation is a reason to talk about providing more German Leopard 2 tanks for Ukrainian defenders.
In addition, the German official believes that the progress of Ukrainians in the Kursk region demonstrates to the Russian population that “their dictator has no control over anything” and that the military leadership is “overwhelmed” by this.
“A good basis for peace talks with Putin’s successor. And for negotiations with Putin before the International Criminal Court,” he concluded.
What is happening in the Kursk region
on 6 August, Russians announced a “breakthrough” of the border from Ukraine in the Kursk region.
For the sixth day in a row, fighting has been taking place in the border areas of the Kursk region. Russia has now introduced a counter-terrorism operation in three regions bordering Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Defence confirmed the information about the invasion of the region. However, the General Staff of Ukraine has not yet commented on the situation.
According to media reports, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have advanced 30 kilometres into Russia. Journalists also report a constant flow of armoured personnel carriers and tanks moving towards Russia.
According to AFP, thousands of Ukrainian troops are taking part in a military operation in the Kursk region of Russia.
