Assets of Medvedchuk and Kozak brothers worth UAH 400 million nationalised

Another set of assets of the brothers of former MPs Viktor Medvedchuk and Taras Kozak, suspected of treason, have been transferred to the state. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the SBU.

Based on the materials of the Security Service and the State Bureau of Investigation, the court seized additional assets belonging to the brothers of former MPs Viktor Medvedchuk and Taras Kozak.

These include land, corporate rights, property complexes and vehicles of four companies in Lviv. These include a concrete production plant and a construction company.

The total value of the blocked property is almost UAH 400 million.

The assets were transferred to the National Agency for Finding, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes (ARMA).

“Thus, the state will additionally manage more than 10,000 m² of real estate and more than 70 vehicles and construction equipment owned by the companies of Sergiy Medvedchuk and Bohdan Kozak,” the statement said.

The SBU reminded that in June this year, both brothers of the former MPs were exposed in large-scale financial transactions. They used controlled companies to embezzle funds by failing to pay taxes to the state budget of Ukraine.

At that time, Sergiy Medvedchuk and Bohdan Kozak were served suspicion notices in absentia under Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (tax evasion, duties (mandatory payments)).

Then, based on the materials of the Security Service and the State Bureau of Investigation, the first seizure of the suspects’ property worth over UAH 200 million was made.

Both suspects are currently hiding abroad. Comprehensive measures are underway to bring them to justice.

It should be noted that Viktor Medvedchuk and Taras Kozak were notified of being suspected of high treason back in 2021. In January 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy deprived them of Ukrainian citizenship.

Medvedchuk’s arrest

Medvedchuk himself was arrested on 12 April 2022 as a result of a special SBU operation. He is a defendant in several criminal cases of high treason and economic crimes.

on 21 September, Viktor Medvedchuk was exchanged for Ukrainian soldiers held by Russia. As a result, 215 Ukrainian defenders were returned from captivity.
