Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda has unveiled a plan for the European Union’s support for Ukraine in the war against Russia. He presented his plan, which consists of five key points, on social network X (Twitter), "Komersant Ukrainian" reported
The Lithuanian leader urged European partners to act immediately, because, he said, Ukraine’s security is an integral part of the security of the entire continent.
His initiative aims for the EU to step up its support for Ukraine and do everything possible for its victory.
Nauseda’s main proposals:
- Provide Ukraine with real security guarantees. At the same time, the country’s NATO membership should remain on the agenda.
- Hold Russia accountable for war crimes, and sanctions against it should remain in place until the aggression stops.
- The EU should urgently finance the production and supply of weapons to Ukraine, as well as allocate 10 billion euros for the Ukrainian defense industry.
- Russia’s frozen assets should be withdrawn, and tariffs should be imposed on Russian and Belarusian imports.
- Grant Ukraine accelerated accession to the European Union – until 2030.
Nauseda reminded that Ukraine’s security is a part of Europe’s security, which is why European countries need to act together.
