The Italian semi-state industrial group Leonardo is ready to supply technology for drones, but does not plan to open its own production in Ukraine.
The group’s chief executive officer Roberto Cingolani told journalists about this, Reuters reports, "Komersant Ukrainian".
On Thursday, a conference was held in Rome to mobilize international support for Ukraine. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that the participants pledged more than 10 billion euros in funding to help Kyiv.
Leonardo Group CEO, commenting on cooperation with Ukraine, said that his corporation had signed an agreement with the Turkish defense company Baykar and would soon start producing drones in Italy. He emphasized that Baykar (the manufacturer of the famous Bayraktars) directly cooperates with Ukraine.
“We, in cooperation with other players, can make a technological contribution. We will see what the real requirements will be,” Chingolani said.
According to him, Leonardo can help with equipment that will make drones more efficient, but he did not specify what exactly it is.
“That being said, we have no plans to open a plant in Ukraine,” he added.
