NACP names the most common articles under which corrupt officials are tried

In 2023-2024, Ukrainian courts most often considered corruption cases related to fraud, embezzlement, bribery, and abuse of power or position.
This was announced by Volodymyr Kharchenko, head of the NACP’s corruption data synthesis department, during the presentation of the judicial practice report, Ukrinform reports , "Komersant Ukrainian".
General statistics:
- In 2023, 10,813 corruption criminal offenses were registered;
- In 2024 – 11,163, which is approximately at the level of the previous year;
- As of the end of 2024, 4,442 cases were brought to court, i.e. 40% of the total number.
The most frequent articles of the Criminal Code under which cases are being prosecuted:
- Art. 190 – fraud;
- Art. 191 – misappropriation or embezzlement of another’s property;
- Art. 369 – offer, promise or giving of an unlawful benefit;
- Article 364 – abuse of power or position.
In recent years, Article 369 has been used especially actively: in 2023, 84% of the defendants found guilty of corruption crimes were convicted under this article. The number of sentences under this article increased by 1.5% from 2021 to 2024.
