Acting Head of the Customs Service Serhiy Zvyagintsev is suspected of making false declarations. This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office on January 6, [Komersant] reports.
“NABU detectives served the acting head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine with a notice of suspicion of deliberately entering knowingly false information in the declarations of a person authorized to perform the functions of the state or local government provided for by the Law of Ukraine “On Prevention of Corruption,” the statement said.
During the pre-trial investigation, investigators found that Zvyagintsev did not indicate in his declarations for 2021-2023 information about a 236.8-square-meter residential building and the land plot near Kyiv on which it is located. Instead, the house was registered in the name of a close relative of his wife, but in fact it was owned and managed by the official and his family.
It is currently known that the value of the real estate that Zvyagintsev did not declare reaches USD 100 thousand. The investigation in this case is ongoing. If the official’s guilt is proven, he faces up to 2 years in prison with a ban on holding certain positions for up to 3 years.
