Danger for the whole of Europe: Russian army shells substations that supply Khmelnytsky and Rivne nuclear power plants

9 November 12:14

During a night air attack on November 8 by the Russian terrorist army, substations of two Ukrainian nuclear power plants were hit. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry demands an urgent convocation of the IAEA Board.

This was announced by Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to him, Russia shelled the substations that supply Khmelnytsky and Rivne nuclear power plants.

“These were not accidental, but well-planned attacks. Russia is deliberately jeopardizing nuclear safety in Europe,” the Ukrainian foreign minister emphasized.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called for an urgent meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors “to respond to these unacceptable risks.”

Sibiga also said that China and India should put pressure on Moscow to stop Russia’s nuclear blackmail.

“We also call on all states that value nuclear safety, including China and India, to demand that Russia stop its reckless attacks on nuclear energy that risk a catastrophic incident,” the statement said.

Shelling of Ukraine

On the night of November 8, Russia launched a large-scale combined attack on Ukraine, using missiles and drones to strike energy infrastructure.

Due to the damage to the networks, emergency power outages had to be introduced in a number of regions, which led to interruptions in the operation of critical systems.
