“An unstable peace” without security guarantees could lead to an even larger war, says Borovyk

Valery Borovik, a combat veteran and founder of Ukrainian defense manufacturer First Contact, believes that prematurely ending the war without achieving lasting security guarantees could lead to an even larger conflict in the future.

He stated this in an interview with the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to Borovyk, calls for so-called “peace” may be a signal to those who underestimate the threat.

“If you look deeper, I think it’s more of a statement for those who don’t yet understand that it will come to them if they promote a false peace now,” Borovik said.

Borovyk explained what he considers to be “false peace.”

“False peace is when war may start soon or not soon, but it will be even stronger. It is when the aggressor will be rewarded for what he has seized, and he will get away with it. They just stopped — and that’s it: he took what was his, and we were left without ours,” he stressed.

In his opinion, peace must be long-lasting and guaranteed.

“Peace must be ensured by stability for a long period. Perhaps with mutual losses, but it must be a peace that will not allow the war to flare up again. I do not believe in such peace in the situation we are in now,” Borovyk said.

He also expressed his conviction that Russia is not interested in stopping the fighting.

“Why should it stop? It is moving forward. It is moving slowly, but it is moving. It is being briefed a little better than we can see,” Borovik said.

Assessing the state of the Russian economy, he suggested that Moscow still has some reserves of strength.
