Unrecognized Transnistria is on the brink of disaster: what does Ukraine have to do with it?

Unrecognized Transnistria has declared a state of economic emergency for a month due to the expected cessation of Russian gas supplies through Ukraine. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to a decree of the so-called “head of Transnistria”.

“To introduce a special legal regime – a state of emergency – throughout the territory of the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic for a period of 30 (thirty) days,” the document signed by Vadim Krasnosilsky reads.

It is known that the state of emergency will come into force after approval by the so-called parliament of Transnistria. It will take place on Wednesday, December 11.

the “president” also decided to make a decision to rationalize natural gas consumption and ban energy exports. In addition, the right to private property and labor may be restricted in unrecognized Transnistria during the state of emergency.

The introduction of the state of emergency is due to the fact that Ukraine does not plan to extend the gas transit contract to Europe from January 1, 2025.
