Night drone attack: an oil depot in the Lipetsk region of the Russian Federation was hit

6 January 12:25

On the night of Tuesday, January 6, a large-scale drone strike was carried out on Russian territory. Most of the incidents were recorded in the Lipetsk region, where a fuel infrastructure facility was hit, as well as in Penza, where residents reported the operation of air defense systems and a series of explosions.

This was reported by the Telegram channels ASTRA, SHOT and the Ukrainian Center for Strategic Communications, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to the available data, the drones attacked the Usmansk oil depot LLC, located in the village of Strilletski Khutory. Local residents reported the sounds of several explosions in the Usman area, after which a large-scale fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise.

The Usman oil depot is an important logistical hub for the enemy: the company is engaged in the storage, transshipment and wholesale of oil products, as well as provides transportation services, having its own fleet of vehicles.

The governor of the Lipetsk region, Igor Artamonov, officially confirmed the UAV attack. However, the official traditionally tried to mitigate the consequences, stating that the fire at an “industrial facility” in the Usmansky district was allegedly caused by a “drone crash.” Artamonov did not specify the specific name of the damaged facility.

At the same time, Russian propaganda channels confirm the information about a massive fire that engulfed the oil storage facility.

In parallel with the attack on the Lipetsk region, it was noisy in Penza. According to the SHOT Telegram channel, about ten explosions were heard in the city.

Due to the air threat, the local airport was paralyzed – the harbor was closed for departures and arrivals.
