The Netherlands has granted permission to export F-16 to Ukraine: the first aircraft will be delivered soon

Dutch Defence Minister Keesa Ollongren has announced that the export of 24 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine has been approved. The first of them should be delivered “soon”. This is stated in a letter from the Dutch Ministry of Defence to the Dutch House of Representatives, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“We inform your House that the necessary permission to export military equipment to Ukraine has been issued,”

the document says.

The exact date of shipment is not specified.

“Operational security remains the primary criterion when considering whether to disclose information. Based on this, as well as on the arrangements within the international coalition, no further details about this shipment are provided at this time. Your Chamber will be kept confidentially informed about the developments”,

– the letter reads.

The letter to parliament on the F-16 export licence is one of the last actions of the outgoing government.

As a reminder, the Netherlands announced that it would start sending F-16 fighters to Ukraine this autumn. A total of 24 aircraft are to be delivered to the army.
