The Nobel Committee was unable to tell the winner of the Medicine Prize Fred Ramsdell about the award because of his digital detox. The Guardian newspaper writes about this, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The publication says that the doctor chose to “live his best life” by traveling far from civilization.
“Because of the Nobel laureate’s digital detox, the Nobel Committee was unable to contact him to break the news,” the article says.
Ramsdell’s friend and laboratory co-founder Jeffrey Bluestone told reporters that the scientist is now in the wilds of Idaho.
The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for 2025 was awarded to Americans Mary Brunckow, Fred Ramsdell, and Japanese Shimon Sakaguchi for their discoveries in the field of peripheral immune tolerance.
T-cells are one of the main lines of adaptive or chronic immunity that is formed after the body encounters pathogens. Scientists have discovered T-reactive cells that prevent the immune system from attacking the body’s own cells.
