“Nova Poshta tests innovative postal machines: what will change for customers soon

18 November 20:25

The delivery market in Ukraine continues to grow despite the war, and competition for customer convenience is becoming increasingly fierce. “Nova Poshta already has the largest postal network in the country, but the company is not stopping and is testing several new formats of automated delivery points, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing the postal operator’s official Telegram channel.

Why does Ukrposhta need new formats of post offices?

Post offices are one of the key drivers of operational efficiency for logistics companies. They reduce staff costs, optimize space, scale quickly, and operate around the clock.

At the same time, the classic metal construction has its limitations: it is heavy, expensive to manufacture, takes time to assemble, and is not always suitable for installation in small or non-standard locations.

That’s why the company decided to test new types of materials and formats, from lightweight plastic to modular foam solutions. Some of them can dramatically change the logistics in small towns, shopping centers, and office spaces.

Plastic postal machine: lightweight and mobile

The first new format is a plastic mailbox designed for indoor use. Its light weight offers several advantages: easy installation without complicated site preparation, the ability to quickly move the structure depending on traffic, and lower production and logistics costs compared to metal.

A plastic model may be optimal for small shops, educational institutions, gyms, or coffee shops where it is important not to take up much space and to respond quickly to changes in customer flow.

Foam construction set: modularity for business

The second experiment is a foam postal construction kit. Its main advantage is modularity. The cells can be configured for different types of parcels: small, medium, or large.

This opens up new opportunities:

  • adaptation to businesses with an uneven flow of shipments;
  • easy expansion or reduction of capacity;
  • minimal installation and maintenance costs.

In the future, such designs may appear in settlements where the installation of classic post offices was unprofitable.

Custom drop box: automation of bulk shipments

A separate area is the drop box for business. This is an autonomous station equipped with a built-in scanner and printer that allows entrepreneurs to send many parcels without queues, automatically print invoices, and perform the full cycle of shipment formation without an operator.

In fact, it is a mini self-service branch for e-commerce. It can significantly reduce the workload on the work departments and speed up the parcel processing process.

CONVENIQ: a post office, coffee and snacks in one space

The most non-standard solution is CONVENIQ. This is a mini-complex that combines a post office, a coffee machine, a Grab&Go refrigerator with snacks. The idea is simple: while a customer is picking up a parcel, he or she can buy coffee or a snack at the same time. This approach makes the post office a place of microservices, not just a delivery point.

Key features:

  • modular design for installation in various locations;
  • autonomy. Only one courier is required to service the CONVENIQ network;
  • built-in software for intuitive use of the micro-market;
  • contactless payment via QR code or bank terminal – without the need to download the application.

CONVENIQ is an example of how logistics companies are increasingly moving beyond pure delivery. Instead of the usual “received and left” function, a microservice hub format is emerging that can develop affiliate retail and create a new type of customer interaction.

How Nova Poshta works: scale, innovation and role during the war

“Nova Poshta is one of the largest logistics companies in Ukraine, founded in 2001. Over the past two decades, it has grown from a regional carrier to a national leader in express delivery, operating in the B2C, B2B, and C2C segments. The company specializes in the fast delivery of documents, parcels and cargo across the country, and is actively developing international destinations.

One of the key assets of NP is its extensive infrastructure: thousands of branches, post offices and courier zones, as well as modern sorting terminals built on the principle of full automation. The use of robotic sorting systems allows the company to process millions of shipments every day, and the speed of delivery between cities is often only one day.

In 2014, the company established Nova Pei, its own financial company that provides customers with payment options, money transfers, and other financial services. This turned the logistics infrastructure into a multi-service ecosystem.

During the full-scale war, NP became one of the key logistics partners for humanitarian and volunteer initiatives, ensuring the delivery of aid to the frontline regions and operating even during active hostilities. The company is actively investing in the development of its network in the de-occupied territories.

Today, the company continues to modernize its infrastructure, introduce innovations in automation, expand its network of post offices and develop new customer services. The company positions itself as a technology brand that strives to make delivery
