A megawatt power plant has been launched on the roof of Nova Poshta’s Kyiv Innovation Terminal. This was announced by the co-owner of Nova Poshta, Volodymyr Popereshnyuk, reports [Kommersant].

According to him, the field of solar panels is spread over an area of 5000 square meters. The project cost the company 14 million hryvnias, with an expected payback period of 3 years.

“In the near future, we will also install industrial uninterruptible power supply systems and electricity storage equipment, which will make our energy facilities even more efficient,” said Mr. Popereshnyuk.

He also explained that the key to the growth of investments in the company’s energy independence was, in particular, the abolition of VAT on imports of energy equipment.

“We were able to launch our energy program, develop renewable energy sources and reduce consumption from the general power grid,” said the co-owner of Nova Poshta.

According to him, when a business has free funds, it will invest them in development.

Ukrainian business cares about its own energy independence

[Kommersant] said that more than two hundred solar panels have appeared on the roof of the Central Department Store in Kyiv’s Khreshchatyk Street as part of a unified energy independence system for the building.

An entire solar power plant with a storage system to provide autonomous power was installed on the roof of the Scientific and Technical Library of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

The OKKO chain is actively installing solar panels at its gas stations.

The first rooftop solar power plant was installed at a gas station in Obolon district of Kyiv by Ukrnafta. As reported, the capacity of the solar power plant is 25 kW. 44 panels are connected to a modern inverter with artificial intelligence functions. Currently, the station operates exclusively for the internal consumption of the complex.

And there will be more such examples. In this regard, it is worth recalling that this summer, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine decided to mandate the installation of solar panels with energy storage systems on all public buildings by the end of 2025.
