4 July 16:33

on June 28, Stryi hosted the second workshop within the Build Up project, a joint initiative of Favbet Foundation and GoFriends IT Academy. The event brought together 53 teenagers, including children of military personnel, IDPs, orphans, and participants from socially vulnerable groups, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing the Foundation’s release.

The workshop continued the initiative of the Ticket to IT event held in Kyiv. The main goal was to provide basic knowledge about digital professions. Teenagers got acquainted with 12 areas of IT, including programming, testing, cybersecurity, UI/UX design and robotics. The format included practical classes in groups led by experienced mentors and GoFriends IT Academy students.

This area is being developed as part of the broader IT Kids program, which the foundation launched in 2023. Among the initiatives implemented is the New Python course, held in partnership with the Code Club Ukraine network. The course was attended by 352 children, including 156 from IDP and military families. A Scratch course was also implemented, reaching 780 children from different regions. In total, the programs reached more than 1,100 participants.

“We are convinced that access to quality education should not depend on the place of residence or social status. That’s why all IT Kids programs are free of charge,” says Andriy Matyukha.

As part of the second master class, all participants received invitations to the GoFriends IT Academy summer camp. The camp program includes in-depth study of programming, teamwork on projects, and selection for further courses.

The foundation’s initiatives include:

  1. Holding a series of workshops as part of the Build Up project.
  2. Launching educational courses in Python and Scratch.
  3. Providing modern equipment to schools in the affected regions.
  4. Partnering with GoFriends IT Academy and the Code Club Ukraine network.
  5. Intention to continue supporting young people with educational projects in the field of technology.

“Favbet Foundation continues to work on expanding access to technological education for teenagers from different regions of Ukraine, with a focus on supporting young people in difficult life circumstances,” the release says.
