New benefits for defenders: 50% compensation for motor vehicle liability insurance

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft law that defines the foundations of state veterans’ policy. This was reported by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on Telegram, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“Today we have taken a step towards our defenders. We devoted a separate government meeting to veterans’ policy and adopted 11 decisions. First, we approved the draft law on the foundations of state veteran policy. It defines the statuses of veterans and their families and guarantees support: medical, educational, social, and legal,” Svyrydenko wrote.
The document provides for the creation of veterans’ spaces, the provision of services at public expense, and the perpetuation of the memory of the dead. Existing benefits and documents remain in force. In addition, a draft law on persons who defended the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine was adopted.
The government also approved the launch of an adaptation program for veterans who have lost their eyesight. In particular, access to rehabilitation equipment such as wheelchairs, white canes and other special equipment has been simplified. Foreign military personnel who are fighting or have fought in the Armed Forces will be able to receive free dental care.
A separate decision stipulates that the state will compensate 50% of the cost of car insurance for veterans and people with disabilities caused by war.
Svyrydenko added that these bills are expected to be included in the Code of Laws on Defenders of Ukraine in the fall.
