Ukraine offers international arms manufacturers to test their latest technologies directly on the battlefield. This initiative was launched by the state-funded Ukrainian platform Brave1. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Reuters.
According to the agency, as part of the Test in Ukraine initiative, companies will be able to send their developments for practical use by the Ukrainian military. Instructions for use are provided online, after which the Armed Forces test the weapons in real combat conditions and send a feedback report.
“It gives us an understanding of what technologies are really available, and it gives companies an idea of what really works on the front line,” said Artem Moroz, Head of Investor Relations at Brave1, at the defense conference in Wiesbaden.
Despite the high interest in the program, Moroz did not disclose which companies have already joined, nor did he specify the details of the scheme’s functioning or possible costs.
Ukraine as a testing ground for defense innovations
The Brave1 platform, created by the government in 2023, works as an online hub: Ukrainian manufacturers can look for investors and the military can order the necessary weapons.
Moroz also added that the platform has identified priority areas for testing military technologies.
“We have a clear list of priorities. Among the key ones are new air defense systems, drone interceptors, systems based on artificial intelligence, and solutions against gliding bombs,” Moroz emphasized.
Reuters drew attention to other areas of interest to Ukraine. These include electronic profiling systems on the ground, advanced fire control technologies, and artificial intelligence guidance systems to improve artillery accuracy.
The list of priorities also includes:
- unmanned systems on the water,
- electronic detection and countermeasures systems,
- advanced fire control systems,
- artificial intelligence to improve the accuracy of howitzers.
Ukraine offers unique conditions for testing innovative technologies in real combat situations, which could be a boost for the global arms market and give the Armed Forces of Ukraine the necessary technological advantage.
