New payments at birth: Ukrainian families will receive 50 thousand hryvnias

Today, on November 5, the Verkhovna Rada passed a bill to increase the one-time childbirth allowance in Ukraine to UAH 50,000.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the press service of the parliament and MP Danylo Hetmantsev on Telegram.

The purpose of the legislative initiative is to support families in the prenatal, postnatal and early childcare periods, as well as to stimulate the birth rate and combine parenthood with professional employment.

According to the adopted draft law No. 13532, the increased payments will take effect from January 1, 2026.

Payments foreseen for 2026:

  • uAH 7,000 – maternity benefit for uninsured persons.
  • uAH 50,000 – a one-time childbirth allowance.
  • “Baby Package” – one-time in-kind assistance or monetary compensation at the parents’ choice.
  • uAH 7,000 – childcare allowance for children under 1 year of age (will also be paid to children born in 2025 who are under the age of one).
  • uAH 8,000“eNursery” program for childcare for children aged 2 to 3 years if the mother or other legal representative is employed.
  • For children with disabilities, a multiplier of 1.5 is provided when determining the amount of assistance.
  • uAH 8,000“eSadok” program, financial assistance for childcare for children aged 4 to 6 in case of lack of places in municipal kindergartens (starting in 2028).
  • uAH 5,000 – a one-time“schoolbag” allowance for first-grade students.

Back in May, the Ministry of Social Policy presented a new project to support families before and after the birth of a child, which provided for the payment of UAH 50,000 and other aforementioned assistance.
