Iran’s new leader was secretly flown to Moscow, where he is undergoing medical treatment

Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is in Moscow because he required surgery following the U.S. and Israeli strikes. He is currently undergoing treatment at one of the Kremlin leader’s residences.

This was reported by [Komersant], citing AJ Jariba.

According to a high-ranking source close to Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei was transported to Moscow by a Russian military aircraft as part of a top-secret operation due to his health and security concerns.

Upon arrival in the Russian capital, Khamenei “successfully” underwent surgery and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital attached to one of the presidential palaces (residences) of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.

When and why hospitalization in Moscow was necessary

According to the source, Mojtaba’s injuries resulting from the first U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28 required hospitalization in a well-equipped hospital, close medical supervision, and special monitoring—which cannot be provided in Iran amid ongoing bombardment, especially following Israel’s announcement of its intention to strike the new supreme leader.

The source explained that Iranian security services were concerned about a leak of information regarding the whereabouts of Khamenei’s son (referring to the aforementioned Mojtaba), as the doctors and specialists who would treat him are being monitored. For this reason, recommendations for his treatment in Russia were approved.

Who Proposed Treating Mojtaba in Russia

The publication learned that Vladimir Putin, during a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian last Thursday, personally proposed treating Mojtaba in Russia.

Iranian officials, including Khamenei, carefully considered the Russian proposal, and it was approved. Thus, on Thursday evening, he was already transported to Moscow, where medical care was provided by Russian doctors and a number of Iranian doctors who accompanied him.

Mojtaba’s address to the people may have been fake

An Iranian source close to the reformists told the AJ Jariba newspaper that there are significant doubts that the first message attributed to Khamenei’s son was actually his. There are suspicions that it was actually written by Ali Larijani, Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council, as it fully coincides with several statements he made prior to Mojtaba’s so-called speech.

According to this source, Khamenei’s son was not even informed of the upcoming meeting, and his absence from the public event and the lack of an audio recording of the speech only reinforce these suspicions.

Other interesting facts about Iran’s new supreme leader

Last Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted that his country has information about Mojtaba’s whereabouts and condition, but does not wish to disclose it.

“I will not provide him with life insurance,” he said, which many interpreted as a hint that Tel Aviv has specific information about Iran’s new supreme leader.

At the same time, sources in Jerusalem say that according to Israeli intelligence assessments, Mojtaba’s injuries may be more serious than initially thought. They also claim that Tel Aviv has no reliable information regarding his departure from Iran.

Earlier, AJ Jariba reported that Mojtaba sustained injuries to the left side of his body, from head to toe. This occurred after debris fell near him, rather than directly on him, during strikes targeting a complex that includes the Supreme Leader’s office in Tehran.

The U.S. is hunting for Khamenei

As a reminder, on March 13, the U.S. announced a $10 million reward for information on Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and top IRGC officials.

It is worth noting that U.S. President Donald Trump doubts that Khamenei’s son is alive. The reason for his doubts is that Khamenei did not appear on camera on Thursday, March 13.
