New recruitment algorithm for the Armed Forces: explanation by the Ministry of Defence
14 March 2024 16:01
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has announced a new recruitment algorithm for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by Kommersant Ukrainian
citing the press service of the Ministry of Defence.
It is noted that the new algorithm is designed to replace outdated approaches with a clear mechanism for voluntary recruitment through recruitment centres and online.
Thus, a candidate can choose a vacant position and a military unit from recruiters, recruitment centres based at ASCs, online platforms (lobbyx.army; www.work.ua/zsu; defence.robota.ua; www.olx.ua/uk/rabota), military unit websites, recruitment centres of individual military units or territorial recruitment centres.

The new recruitment algorithm for the Armed Forces has four stages:
- selection of a position and military unit;
- interview and communication with the military unit;
- registration of a joint venture in the TCC;
- referral for military service.

“If the selection process determines that the candidate is not suitable for the chosen position, he or she will be offered other positions in the chosen military unit as a priority,”
– the ministry explained.
It is noted that if a candidate has experience of military service over the past 10 years and is selected by direct (related) military service, he or she is sent directly to the designated military units in accordance with the letters of recommendation provided.
At the same time, if a candidate has no experience of military service or is selected for non-direct military service, he or she is sent to a relevant training centre, reserve training battalion, or advanced training courses for basic military training and/or professional training, and then to a designated military unit.
New draft law on mobilisation
on 7 February, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a new draft law on mobilisation as a basis without proposals from the relevant committee. It is expected to be voted on as a whole at the end of February, and the draft law may come into force in April.
The draft law proposes, among other things, to introduce summonses through the conscript’s electronic cabinet. Other innovations include lowering the conscription age to 25 years, setting a demobilisation period of 36 months, introducing voluntary mobilisation for convicts, restrictions on evaders, banning civil service without military training, etc.
