Ukraine lacks prosecutors to work in the frontline regions. In particular, we are talking about Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Kharkiv regions. In order to solve the staffing problem, prosecutors from Kyiv and other cities and regions of Ukraine have been sent on secondment. This was reported to Komersant ukrainskyi
was informed by its own sources in the central office of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
“Letters have been sent with a proposal to send prosecutors on a business trip for up to two months to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv specialised defence prosecutor’s offices,”
– the source said.
According to him, these business trips are not compulsory at the moment and are possible only with the voluntary consent of those who wish to go. Those prosecutors who respond will receive a UAH 30,000 supplement to their salary.
As the source further explained, there has been a long-standing shortage of staff in the frontline areas: due to constant shelling and threats to life, there are numerous cases of prosecutors resigning from their jobs at their own request.
At the same time, the workload of specialised defence prosecutors is constantly increasing due to the large number of proceedings to investigate Russian war crimes.
Earlier, the OGP reported a significant increase in the number of murders of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russians.
