Ex-MP Demchak is wanted

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau has put former MP Ruslan Demchak on the wanted list in a case of abuse of power or position. This was reported by the NABU press service, Komersant ukrainskyi
reports.
“The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is looking for a suspect in criminal proceedings No. 52024000000000164 dated 08.04.2024, namely Ruslan Yevhenovych Demchak on suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code,”
– the statement said.

Earlier it was reported that former MP Demchak was served with a notice of suspicion in absentia.
According to media reports, Demchak, when he was a member of the Ukrainian parliament, received compensation for renting a house in Kyiv, although he had a private house in Kryukiv district near Kyiv. The house was registered in his father’s name, but it is known that the politician used it.
The NABU and the SAPO believe that the former MP illegally received about UAH 225,000 in compensation. The politician was notified of the suspicion in absentia, as his whereabouts have not been established. He is charged with committing an offence under Article 364 (2) of the Criminal Code.
It should be noted that from November 2014 to August 2019, Demchak was Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Financial Policy and Banking.
