On Saturday, June 28, Polish President Andrzej Duda arrived in Ukraine on a farewell visit. However, a photo from the event caused a heated discussion on social media.
One of the security guards wore the chevron of the Home Army, which is known for ethnic cleansing of Ukrainians, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Vakhtang Kipiani, a journalist and fighter of the 13th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, drew attention to this.
“If the security of their president can safely wear an Arsenal chevron during a visit to
Ukraine and wear the chevron of the Home Army, which carried out bloody actions against Ukrainians during and after World War II, then red and black flags on their suits during a visit to Poland should also be the norm,” the journalist said.
The Home Army was an underground Polish military organization during World War II that operated in 1942-1945 within the pre-war territory of the Polish state, as well as in
Lithuania and Hungary. The AK was the main organization of the Polish resistance against the Nazi occupation. The AK also took an active part in Ukrainian-Polish ethnic conflicts, including the Volyn Tragedy.
