Oles Dovhyi resigns from the MP’s mandate: what caused it

18 June 22:25

Ukrainian MP Oles Dovgyi has announced the termination of his parliamentary powers. He announced this in his official Facebook post, publishing a statement, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“I, Oles Stanislavovych Dovgy, have written a statement of resignation from the mandate of the People’s Deputy of Ukraine,” he said.

He clarified that he does not plan to run for office and hold positions in state and local government.

The MP also promised to support the Armed Forces and cultural projects.

Reason for resigning his mandate

In his post, Oles Dovhyi emphasized that he no longer sees the possibility of being productive in parliament. He emphasized that he wants to remain useful to society in other areas.

“I no longer see the possibility of being productive in the parliament. I continue to help the Armed Forces and develop social and charitable projects,” he said in a statement.

Gratitude to voters and work results

The MP expressed gratitude to the residents of his district for their trust and support over the course of two convocations. In the post, he listed the key initiatives and actions that were implemented together with the community:

  • support for the defenders during the war
  • assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • support for internally displaced persons;
  • weaving camouflage nets and a volunteer kitchen;
  • creating places for children’s recreation and rehabilitation;
  • setting up evacuation shelters.

It is worth noting that Dovhyi’s official powers will be terminated when his application is considered and supported by the Rada.

If this happens, only 398 MPs will remain in the parliament.
