Updated curfew rules in Kyiv: what has been relaxed
17 January 21:15
Kyiv has introduced updated curfew rules, which provide for important exceptions for residents of the capital.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a Telegram post by Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
During curfew, it is now permitted to:
- walk or use private transport, including taxis, to travel to “Points of Invincibility” or home,
- This also applies to cases where people are returning from trains that arrived late at night.
“Curfew is not being lifted, but necessary exceptions are being made for people,” Tkachenko said.
“Points of resilience” can now operate around the clock. This applies to both municipal locations and responsible businesses that are ready to provide heat, electricity, communications, water, and hot tea.
At the same time, security measures and patrols are being stepped up in the city.
When moving around at night, you must have with you:
- an identity document,
- and, for those liable for military service, military registration documents.
“Safety remains a priority, and all decisions are implemented under the control of the security forces,” city authorities emphasize.
In addition, “Points of Invincibility” are being constantly checked to ensure that they are actually functioning as places of assistance and not just formal marks on the map.
Recall that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has announced that curfew restrictions may be eased in regions of Ukraine where a state of emergency has been declared in the energy sector.
In particular, on January 16, the Cabinet of Ministers approved changes that give regional authorities the right to establish more flexible conditions for curfew during the energy crisis.
Kyiv is currently experiencing one of the most difficult situations with electricity and heat supply.
