Management Update: The Government Approves New Members of the Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia

On October 1, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the new composition of the supervisory board of Ukrzaliznytsia, the government website reports, "Komersant Ukrainian".
It includes four independent members:
- Elżbieta Ewa Bieńkowska (Poland), former Minister of Infrastructure of Poland and European Commissioner;
- Gepard Hafer (Germany), a logistics expert who worked for Deutsche Bahn;
- Maxim Moklyak – former acting head of the State Fiscal Service in 2015;
- Anatoliy Amelin – entrepreneur, co-founder of the Ukrainian Institute for the Future.
The state representatives will be:
- David Lomdzharia (Georgia) – Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukroboronprom;
- Serhiy Leshchenko – former MP, former journalist;
- Oleksandr Kamyshyn, former chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia, former Minister of Strategic Industries (still working, appointed in 2024).
Hafer, Amelin, Lomdzharia, Leshchenko were previous members of the Supervisory Board, Moklyak and Benkovska are new members.
The independent members of the board were selected through an open competition organized by the nomination committee. The selection was conducted with the participation of an international recruiting company and was funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
By law, the Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia consists of seven members, of which the majority must be independent members. The term of office of a member of the Supervisory Board is three years. Persons elected as members of the Supervisory Board may be re-elected an unlimited number of times.
