The American company OpenAI has received a $200 million defense contract from the Pentagon to develop artificial intelligence tools.

This was reported by the press service of the US Department of Defense, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

As part of the contract, OpenAI is to create advanced AI solutions that will contribute to important national security tasks, both for military operations and internal management systems. The project is expected to be completed by July 2026. The contract was signed by the Digital and AI Technologies Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.

Last week, OpenAI announced that its annual revenue as of June reached $10 billion, indicating a rapid increase in interest in artificial intelligence technologies.

In March, the company announced plans to raise up to $40 billion in a new round of investment led by Japanese investor SoftBank, and OpenAI’s valuation could reach $300 billion. As of the end of March, the company’s user audience numbered about 500 million active people per week.

In April, the US White House published recommendations for government agencies aimed at developing a competitive AI market and maximizing its benefits for both the state and citizens.
