Orban makes a new statement against Ukraine’s accession to the EU: what he said
5 July 21:15
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has once again sharply criticized Ukraine’s European integration aspirations.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
“Europe does not want war. Europe does not want an economic collapse. Bureaucrats in Brussels cannot ignore the will of the people and decide the future of our continent on their own. It’s time for Brussels to hear: we say no to Ukraine’s accession to the EU!” he said, emphasizing his rejection of further EU enlargement.
This position is not new: Budapest has long demonstrated restraint in supporting Kyiv, in part due to historical, economic, and political factors. Orban is promoting a nationalistic course that often runs counter to the common European position. His statement is not only an internal political message, but also a tool to put pressure on Brussels in bargaining for his own interests.
However, Orban’s position does not reflect a united European voice. Most EU countries support Ukraine’s European integration, recognizing its strategic and value importance for the continent. Ukraine, despite the resistance of some governments, is confidently moving forward with reforms and approximation to European standards.
