Perfumes from the basement: in Poltava, products of world brands were massively counterfeited

The Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine exposed a group of people who organized large-scale illegal production and sale of counterfeit perfumes and cosmetics with logos of world-famous brands. According to the investigation, the criminals caused international companies losses of more than UAH 8.5 million. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the BES.
According to the BES, the counterfeit products were manufactured at a warehouse in Poltava. The counterfeit cosmetics used logos and trademarks of popular brands, which is a direct violation of intellectual property rights. The counterfeits were sold via the Internet and delivered by postal services.
“The Bureau’s detectives conducted searches at the illegal production facilities and seized about 3 thousand bottles of perfume. In addition, they seized printing products and packaging with logos and marks of world-famous brands, other inventory items, as well as data storage media with files on accounting and sales of counterfeits,” the statement said.
The defendants in the case were served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal use of trademarks for goods and services committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, which caused material damage on a particularly large scale.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
