Pension Fund starts paying new types of benefits to Ukrainians

From 1 July, the Pension Fund of Ukraine will appoint and make payments to certain categories of people who have special and distinctive labour merits to the country or work in special conditions. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the press service of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
In particular, the Pension Fund will pay
- a one-time cash reward to persons who have been awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine for an outstanding heroic act;
- lifetime state scholarships to participants in hostilities during the Second World War (1939-1945) who were persecuted for human rights activities and to persons with special services to the Motherland who were awarded lifetime state scholarships in accordance with presidential decrees;
- lifetime state scholarships to citizens of Ukraine who saved Jews on the territory of Ukraine during the Holocaust during the Second World War, who were awarded lifetime state scholarships in accordance with a presidential decree;
- a one-time financial assistance to family members of persons whose deaths were related to participation in mass public protests that took place between 21 November 2013 and 21 February 2014, and to persons who sustained bodily injuries, beatings, or torture during participation in these actions.
Until 1 July, these payments were made by social security authorities.
The Pension Fund of Ukraine has been making monthly payments to certain categories of citizens who have special services to the Motherland and directly participated in the defence of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, or to their family members, since 1 January 2023.
In addition, the Pension Fund of Ukraine ensures the appointment and payment of one-time financial assistance for damage to life and health caused to employees of critical infrastructure facilities as a result of the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
