Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that a new meeting between the Ukrainian and American negotiating teams is being prepared. The talks are set to take place in the United States in the near future, following a pause in the dialogue. The head of state made this statement during his evening address, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

The Ukrainian delegation has already departed for the United States

According to the president, the Ukrainian negotiating team is already on its way to the United States, and the meeting itself is scheduled for Saturday.

“There are signals from the American side regarding their readiness to continue working within the existing negotiation formats to end Russia’s war against Ukraine. There was a pause in the negotiations; it is time to end it. And we are doing everything to ensure that the negotiations are truly substantive. The Ukrainian team—specifically the political part of the negotiating group—is already on its way; this Saturday we expect a meeting in the United States of America.”

Who is participating in the negotiations

The President reported that he had discussed preparations for the negotiations with key representatives of the security and political sectors.

The following are involved in the process:

  • NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov
  • Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kirill Budanov
  • Davyd Arakhamia, head of the Servant of the People faction
  • Serhiy Kyslytsya, Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine’s primary goal remains achieving a just and secure peace.

Negotiations on security and air defense

The president also reported that Rustem Umerov held a series of talks with Middle Eastern countries regarding opportunities for cooperation in the security sector.

According to Zelenskyy, this involves support for Ukraine in the field of air defense.

The president noted:

“There are specific ways they can support our country and our defense—first and foremost, air defense—and there are areas where we can support them and are already doing so.”

What preceded the talks

The day before, the president also spoke about the risks that could affect the negotiation process, particularly due to the escalation of the situation in the Middle East.

In addition, Zelenskyy warned of factors that could strengthen Russia’s position during the upcoming negotiations.
