Talks in Istanbul: Advisors from 4 countries join Ukrainian and Russian delegations

In addition to the Ukrainian and Russian delegations, the talks in Istanbul, scheduled for June 2, will be attended by security advisers from the United States, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. General Keith Kellogg, US President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy for Ukraine, said this in an interview with ABC News, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The official clarified that these countries participated in the formation of the Ukrainian version of the 22-point “memorandum” during meetings in London and Paris.

Kellogg also called the absence of a Russian version of the so-called “memorandum” an obstacle to the negotiations.

“When Trump spoke to Putin, he said he would hand over his memorandum within a week, but neither we nor the Ukrainians have seen it yet,” he emphasized.

According to Kellogg, the goal of the new round of talks in Istanbul is to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire in the air, on land, at sea, and strikes on civilian infrastructure.

“We have to compare Russian and Ukrainian proposals, identify topics suitable for negotiations and those that are not subject to compromise. We will see what we come up with when we are in Istanbul next week,” he summarized.

As a reminder, the “peace” talks in Istanbul ended in nothing after Russia voiced its demand that four Ukrainian regions be handed over to it in full, otherwise the next time it will be about 5 or 6 regions.

During Putin’s phone conversation with Trump, the Russian leader promised the US president to prepare his proposals for a memorandum of intent to cease fire, but so far Russia has not even done that. Instead, after the latest shelling of Kyiv, Trump has been speaking more harshly about Putin. He has even threatened Russia with “big problems” if it does not move toward a ceasefire.
