Negotiations in Geneva: Umerov reported on the results

Another round of negotiations between Ukraine and the United States took place in Geneva. The results of the meeting were announced by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to him, the negotiations took place in two formats: separately with US representatives and in a trilateral format with the participation of the United States and Switzerland.
What was discussed in Geneva
The key topics were:
- finalization of security parameters;
- economic solutions for stabilizing Ukraine;
- preparation for the next trilateral meeting with the participation of the US and Russia;
- long-term support mechanisms;
- document on the restoration of Ukraine.
Umerov stressed that the parties are working on agreed positions, which should form the basis for further agreements.
Who participated in the negotiations
The Ukrainian delegation included, in particular:
- David Arakhamia;
- representatives of the government’s economic bloc, including Oleksiy Sobolev.
The American side was represented by:
- Steve Witkoff;
- Jared Kushner.
Following the meeting, a joint discussion was held with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on further steps.
Document on the restoration of Ukraine
The parties paid particular attention to the economic bloc. This concerns the preparation of a document on the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, an investment plan, and financing mechanisms.
According to Umerov, the teams will continue to work on the document in detail in the near future.
Next stage of negotiations
The Ukrainian side is preparing for the next round. The task is to make the upcoming trilateral meeting as substantive as possible.
On the eve of the negotiations, a telephone conversation took place between Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump. According to Axios sources, the American leader expressed his desire to end the war within a month.
What this means for Ukraine
The negotiation process is moving to a more detailed stage:
- agreement on security guarantees;
- forming an economic framework for recovery;
- preparation of a trilateral format with broader international involvement.
Further decisions may determine the security architecture and reconstruction of the country in the coming years.
