Subsidy Recalculation in March 2026: Who Will See Automatic Changes to Their Payments and What You Need to Know

18 March 14:35

In March 2026, some Ukrainians will receive updated housing subsidies. The Pension Fund of Ukraine is conducting a scheduled automatic recalculation of benefits for households whose income levels have changed significantly.

This was reported by the Pension Fund of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

Who will have their subsidies recalculated in March

Recalculations are conducted twice a year—in March and August. They apply to families whose average monthly income has changed by more than 50%.

In particular, payments may change if:

  • the family’s income has increased significantly
  • the family’s income has decreased significantly
  • the family composition or financial situation has changed.

In such cases, the subsidy amount is adjusted according to the household’s current financial situation.

Do you need to submit an application?

One of the main features of the recalculation is that it occurs automatically.

Citizens:

  • do not need to submit new documents
  • do not need to contact the Pension Fund
  • do not need to write applications

All calculations are based on government registries.

How the new subsidy amount is determined

During the spring recalculation, specialists analyze the family’s income for various periods.

Specifically, the following are taken into account:

  • income for the third and fourth quarters of 2025
  • income for the first and second quarters of 2025 (which was used for the previous subsidy determination)

If the difference exceeds 50%, the subsidy amount changes.

Who is eligible for a subsidy increase

Families may receive an increase in payments if:

  • have seen a decrease in income
  • have lost their jobs
  • have seen their wages decrease
  • have experienced a change in family composition.

In such cases, the government may increase the amount of assistance to help cover utility costs.

Who may have their assistance reduced

At the same time, the subsidy may be reduced if:

  • the household’s income has increased
  • additional sources of income have appeared
  • the family’s financial situation has changed.

What else has changed in social benefits

As a reminder, pension indexation also began in Ukraine on March 1, 2026.

As of early 2026:

  • the average pension is 6,544 UAH
  • it has increased by approximately 13% over the year.

At the same time:

  • about 63,000 pensioners receive pensions below the subsistence minimum
  • another 261,000 people receive the minimum pension of 2,361 UAH.

What this means for Ukrainians

Automatic recalculation of subsidies allows for a more accurate determination of the amount of assistance based on a family’s actual financial situation.

This approach allows for:

  • improve the targeting of assistance
  • support low-income families
  • optimize budget expenditures.
