Crossing the border: are women liable for military service checked for updates?

“From 18 May 2024, women liable for military service must update their data in the MCC, but their mobilisation remains voluntary.

Commenting on the changes to the draft for some categories of Ukrainians from 1 August, Demchenko noted that the rules for crossing remain unchanged.

“Regarding the category of women, I would like to reiterate that the restrictions at the border apply only to men – citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60. Other categories, women and young men, are not restricted in their right to cross the border,” he said.

Accordingly, starting from 1 August, border guards will not stop women and will not check their data in the CCM.

“If there are any restrictions on other categories of citizens, the State Border Guard Service will definitely inform us about it. We or our representatives have not posted such information on our pages,” said Demchenko.

He reminded that men who have the right to travel abroad are required to have a military ID.

As reported by Kommersant Ukrainian , since 17 July, border guards have been checking military registration documents of all male citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60 when they cross the border to leave.

In an interview with Kommersant Ukrainian , Andriy Demchenko told whether the electronic military registration document can completely replace the paper one, what the queues are like at the border with Ukraine and shared information on how to avoid congestion at checkpoints.

Demchenko reminded that the Western Regional Directorate’s Facebook page publishes the state of congestion at the checkpoints in the west every three hours so that people can get acquainted with the situation and choose the least congested checkpoints.
